Prior to Suez he held engineering roles with several firms, including Hazen and Sawyer, P.C. and Savin Engineers, P.C. Sunil holds a Bachelor's of Engineering in Civil Engineering from L.D. College of Engineering in India, and has completed advanced graduate study work toward a Master's Degree from City College, NY, CUNY. He holds a patent for the biological-chemical treatment of liquid organic waste and has been published in a number of industry and association papers and journals.
